Alpha Innotec Alterra Ground Source Heat Pumps – Product Information

DS HP 21

Overview
SWCV Image
The humming bird can only be heard very close up

The alpha innotec SWCV  ground source heat pumps modulate their heat output to match the heat loss from the house. In doing so the achieve very high efficiency or co-efficient of performance (SCOP). The benefit to the end user being low running costs and high RHI returns. The 6kW model satisfies the criteria for the A+++ energy label rating ahead of its introduction.

Noise is not an issue with the alpha innotec range, the ground source heat pumps produce less noise than gas boilers. They are tested in a special environmental chamber costing over 1M Euros to help with the development work.

The SWCV heat pumps include many the necessary hydraulic components for the heating and hot water system that would normally be installed alongside the heat pump. These include the heating and brine circulators, electric backup heater hot water diverter valve and by-pass valve.

Omnie supply the heat pumps as a pack of components that are designed to work together. Our packs include all the necessary main components for a complete heating system. The pipework, fittings clamps and lagging etc. are not included and must be provided by the installer; who knows best what is needed.

The Omnie pack is supplied with an Installation Guide which include the hydraulic design and guidance on the wiring of the power supplies and controls. The Installation Guides can be found here on our web site.

Omnie will supply a hot water cylinder designed to work with the heat pump to provide ample hot water for your home. Low reheat times and high efficiency is a major consideration with our cylinders which are made by one of the UK’s top manufacturers with WRAS certification.

The SWCV range is available in the following variants:
SWCV 62H1 – 1.2-5.9kW
SWCV 92H1 – 1.7-8.6kW
SWCV 122H1 – 2.5-13.5kW

Omnie ground source heat pump packs are supplied for use on closed loop ground collectors. Depending on the customers preference, the area of ground and nature of geology Omnie can supply a fully designed horizontal ground loop system including 32mm diameter collector pipes, below ground manifold chamber and header pipework back the the plant room.

If vertical borehole collectors are the preferred option Omnie will provide an outline design for the collector array and supply the horizontal hook-up pipes, below ground manifold chamber and header pipework. The drilling of the holes and supply and placement of the vertical collector probes would be excluded to be carried out by a separate contractor.

All ground source heat pumps must be correctly designed so the energy capacity of the ground is sufficient to provide the house with the annual demand. In addition it must be able to provide the heat pump with the maximum instantaneous heating demand for those coldest days in winter. It must be able to provide this year on year and at the maximum efficiency. Omnie takes care of this with our heat pump packs.

Omnie will provide an initial estimate of the price for a ground source heat pump pack. We need plans of your property with the year it was built if you are not starting from scratch and the type of construction (brick, cob, timber, etc). If you are claiming the RHI you will need, in addition to the MCS certificate, an Energy Performance Certificate, in this case send us the SAP calculations that go with the EPC as well.

In all cases, a full room by room heat loss calculation must be carried out to accurately assess the peak design day load and the annual energy requirement before a firm quotation can be provided. Omnie can carry out this calculation for you for a small fee.

MCS Certification

The alpha innotec SWCV 62H1, 92H1, and 122H1 heat pumps carry the MCS Product Certification. All three heat pumps can form the heart of the MCS certified system when installed by an accredited installer.
