ScreedPlate Compact Install Guide
Before Starting |
---|
As OMNIE continues to develop and improve product information and instructions it is recommended you check the OMNIE website (www.omnie.co.uk) for the latest Datasheets & Install Guides that may have been superseded post delivery of your system. Please read all stages of this install guide before proceeding with the installation. |
Storage & floor preperation |
---|
NOTE: If it is necessary to store the system once you have taken delivery, ensure it is kept in the following conditions:
Ensure that the floor slab / sub floor has:
* Even Surface – Ensure existing slab meets at least SR2 (5mm deviation in 2m) requirements for floor regularity (BS8204) and preferably SR1 (3mm deviation in 2m). Priming the floor, once swept free of debris, prior to laying the panels will ensure a good adhesion and a dust free surface. Primer is available to buy from OMNIE upon request.
NOTE: Check instructions from the specialist screed manufacturer regarding preparation with regard to the primer and other specific requirements that may apply to your floor construction. |
Stage 1 |
---|
Lay the self adhesive 50mm edge expansion strip around the perimeter of the room ensuring the felt gaiter is facing into the room and bottom excess strip is angled onto the floor at 90° the panels when laid will overlap this and butt up to the expansion strip. |

Stage 2 |
---|
Start by laying the first panel in the corner of the room. Please note, the ScreedPlate Compact panels are strengthened and come with an adhesive layer on the underside. This is to ensure the panels stays flat to avoid screed lifting the panel. |
Stage 3 |
---|
Remove the silicone peel-off paper backing from the first ScreedPlate Compact panel and stick down. |

Stage 4 |
---|
Overlap the second panel to the first, using the first castellation row of each panel to clip into the previous panel. Repeat for all remaining panels, ensuring you rotate the panels as necessary so that all sides overlap and clip into into the previous panel. |
Stage 5 |
---|
Continue the panels across the floor in this manner as shown, trimming the panels at the end of each run. |

Stage 6 |
---|
Starting at the manifold and referring to the OMNIE CAD design, insert the pipe into the ScreedPlate Compact panels at 150mm centres. Repeat until all circuits are laid in a snail pattern layout. When changing direction ensure pipework is installed as per the images below to keep the pipework within tolerances. The minimum temperature for laying the pipe should be +5°C. Once all of the ScreedPlate Compact panels and pipes have been laid, they should be protected with walking boards (especially in areas with high foot traffic). NOTE: If the pipe work is kinked during the installation, the coil must be replaced. |

Stage 7 |
---|
Hydraulic pressure test each circuit and keep under pressure whilst the screed is being laid. |

Stage 8 |
---|
Lay suitable screed as per the manufacturers instructions. Recommended screed: Tilemaster Levelflex (available from OMNIE)

Quick Guide to Filling the System |
---|
1. If the manifold is being used to pressure test all circuits at once, close both primary isolation valves. 2. Connect a pressure tester to the drain valve, vent the system of air and increase the pressure to 6 bar. 3. Once at this pressure, leave for 60 minutes. If the pressure has dropped examine the pipework. It may be necessary to pressure test individual circuits to determine if there has been damage to the pipe. 4. If the pressure is maintained and passes the test, record the results on the pressure test certificate. Have the test witnessed and certified by a third party. 5. Maintain this test pressure whilst the screed is being laid. SEE MANIFOLD INSTALLATION GUIDE (DOCUMENT CODE: IG UFH 17) FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS |

Notes on Expansion Joints |
---|
For heating screeds intended for the application of stone or ceramic coverings, joint areas shall not exceed 40m² with a maximum length of 8m. In the case of rectangular rooms, joint areas can exceed these dimensions but maximum to the length relation of 2 to 1. If induced contraction joints are placed in heating screed, these may be cut to a depth of not more than one third of the screed thickness taking into account the location of the pipes and shall be sealed after heating up. Only flow and return pipe should pass through expansion joints. Where this is the case, connecting pipes shall be covered with a flexible insulation tube of some 0.3m in length spanning the expansion joint. |
